Two sketches, one of Fujiwara no Takamitsu, one of the 36 Japanese poetry immortals. "Shodo" calligraphy in Takamitsu style. Hand drawn in ink on paper; figure is unfinished. Thick textured mulberry paper. Possibly part of a collection of images of the 36 Immortal poets. Kanji inscription and "shodo" (grass script) inscription. Unmounted.
The second image is a well executed Funpon illustrating another of the 36 poetry immortals but is not identified. Likely late 19th to early 20th century.

Condition: Paintings with signs of wear commensurate with age including a center crease and soiling.
