A Chinese Republic period boxwood carving depicting a praying robed Guanyin figure atop a dragon’s head with an additional figure on either side.
Height: 16 in x width: 9 in x depth: 5 in.
Condition: There are no significant losses or scratches. There is a minor chip to the bottom of the left figure’s robe. There is a small, one inch oval-shaped patch behind the left figure that is inconsistent with the surrounding surface. When viewed from the reverse, there is a small hairline crack underneath where the center figure’s robe juts beyond the back of the dragon’s head. Possible repairs to where the figures join the base.
