Likely a parody painting of a similar Korean work. Here the Scholar has fallen asleep as have his two young attendants. The parody element refers to the idea that playing a musical instrument was considered an effective way to cultivate one’s spiritual and mental balance. In this image the Scholar has simply fallen asleep during his playing.
