Small Hopi carved and polychromed wooden Katsina (Kachina) doll
Katsina (or kachina) dolls are sacred figures crafted in Hopi culture as well as other Native American cultures of the Southwest, representing spiritual beings from their mythology. They are typically made from cottonwood and adorned with painted, symbolic details. They play a vital role in Hopi religious ceremonies and serve as educational tools for passing down tribal traditions and values.
Height: 6 in x width: 2 1/4 in x depth: 2 in.
Condition: Some wear throughout including a narrow split along the figure’s back. There are two losses to both sides of the figure’s head. Light wear to the underside.
