Indonesian Sumba lau hada or lau wuti kau ceremonial embroidered wrap textile, 20th century. Decorated with Cowrie shells and beadwork, depicting a figure flanked by two insect-forms.
Length: 33 in x width: 24 1/2 in.
Condition: There are no tears or losses to the fabric. No signs of insect activity. There are few small losses to the cowrie shells, noticeable upon close inspection. There is light, uneven toning to the upper third of the textile. Scattered minute areas of soiling.
