Collection of 21 rare recovered relics found in the vicinity of the American Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg took place in and around Gettysburg, Pennsylvania from July 1 to July 3, 1863.
Each item in this collection has provenance information that may include who found the relic, the location it was found, when the item was found, and other interesting facts about the item. Most statements include a photo of the item to which it pertains.
In order from left to right, top to bottom, the collection consists of:
– Artillery shell fragment found at site of Rummel Farm on East Cavalry Field.
– Brass stud from leather accoutrement found between Devil’s Den and Big Round Top. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– Pieces of pocket knife found between Devil’s Den and Big Round Top. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– Large link from iron chain found at site of Rummel Farm on East Cavalry Field.
– US Minie Ball made into a poker chip found by John Cullison. Formerly part of the Rosensteel collection.
– US Enlistedman’s belt keeper recovered by Ken Bream in an unrecorded location and formerly part of his personal collection.
– Bullet with teeth marks found between Devil’s Den and Big Round Top. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– .58 caliber Gardner bullet found between Devil’s Den, Little Round Top, and Big Round Top. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– Buckle found south of Hagerstown, Maryland on a ridge known to have been occupied by the Army of Northern Virginia during their retreat from Gettysburg.
– High velocity impact fired bullet with two direction impact marks found at the top of Devil’s Den. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– Rare Sabot bottom to a 20 lbs. Schenkl artillery shell found by John Cullison on Pickett’s Charge field. Formerly part of Rosensteel collection.
– High velocity impact fired bullet found on Little Round Top. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– Artillery shell fragment found at site of Rummel Farm on East Cavalry Field.

– Nose cast .58 caliber bullet (possibly Confederate) found in wooded area between the Wheatfield and the Loop. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– High velocity impact fired bullet found on the Trostle Farm. Formerly part of the Iva Rosensteel Collection.
– Bullet with three rings. Documentation not included.
– Artillery shell fragment found by Andrew Keyser at site of Rummel Farm on East Cavalry Field.
Items are housed in a wood and glass display case with plaque.
Condition: Items were found and/or excavated from sites. Wear consistent with the age and nature of the relics. Some items have been treated to resist rust and/or further deterioration.
