Originally part of the Shields Museum inventory and life-long collection of Arthur Shields, this Civil War canteen includes an intact stopper chain and partial cloth cover. Recovered from the Wheatfield area at Gettysburg by Ray Kline. Item is housed in a hexagonal display case.
Canteen: 9.5"H x 7.25"W x 3.25"D. Display Case: 12"H x 15.5"W x 9"D.
Condition: Item is heavily worn from age and use. Stopper chain is intact. Cloth cover is partially intact with a portion missing from one side of the canteen. Partial strap is attached. Item has rust and patina throughout, as well as fraying edges and discoloration. This is a historical, recovered item and condition is as found.
