Possibly Poland, Bohemia, or Ruthenian regions, ca. 1800-1850. Unusual tall woman’s bonnet constructed from richly woven blue and gold brocade, pleated into a stiff cylindrical shape. Top is flat and paneled; body features vertical tucks and possible ecclesiastical textile reuse. Interior lined in reddish silk. Likely used for ritual, bridal, or festive processions. Likely for use as ceremonial headwear, possibly bridal or community celebration. Silk brocade (blue and gold), structured pasteboard or leather interior, silk lining.

Condition: Heavy wear. Tears throughout and great fragility to textile in some areas. Surface losses.
